Responding to the call of the mountains and breaking away from loquacious ho-hum of city life, I along with my family set forth for The Châlets Naldehra en route Kalka. Four-hour cab ride from Kalka Station for Naldehra was not very pleasant except for a few stretches but exhilarating none the less as the giant gorgeous hills were beckoning. We reached the resort well before dusk. Located at a height of 7200 feet, the imposing Châlets Naldehra property rests over the grassy acres of a sunlit spur that reaches out from thick deodar forest and opens to the view of a wide valley.
Far from the clamour of Pink City’s touristy centre is an oasis of tranquility and grandeur, one that offers five star hospitality and has a world-class brand tag. Located in the Kookas area on the outskirts of Jaipur is Le Meridien Hotel. Being a brand that stands for impeccable hospitality, I expected nothing but the best from this hotel. But it still exceeded my expectations. Its hard not to fall in love (at first sight) with this regal palace hotel, complete with manicured gardens and water bodies that also make the apt background score.

Attention ladies and hubbies! Whether you’re a hardworking homemaker who wipes up a neat meal plan for your tribe or a proficient executive assembling law and order at workforce, a break with your significant other is never undesirable. Tried and tested, here’s what a couple should do to take a break – just check into Vivanta by Taj – Dwarka, and go straight to Tipple, the hotel’s very own pleasantly scented lounge bar. Don’t wait for Christmas, literally.
It is said that variety is the spice of life. Sampan — the Flavours of Asia restaurant at The Suryaa hotel — has also decided to go for a ‘makeover’, of their dishes that is! We arrived for a sampling of the new menu on offer at the Sampan and didn’t go back disappointed. A specially crafted five-course menu, for ‘The Hotel Explorer’ team, was laid out for us for the evening. Located on the top floor of The Suryaa, the restaurant offers stunning panoramic view of the city. The subtle and impressive interiors add to the charm of this Pan Asian restaurant.
Tamra
Let’s get straight to the point here, shall we? The name, Tamra, is going to get a lot of foodies like us into a confused frenzy. It’s not just a fancy name for an Indian restaurant, much like we thought it to be. For tamra—translating into copper in Sanskrit—is just one facet of this 186-seater, multi-cuisine restaurant opened this February at the Shangri-La Eros Hotel in New Delhi. Misleading as it was, we did see samosa chat on the menu though before deciding to dine there. Misleading also because it’s technically five specialty restaurants rolled into one. Much like hundreds of rolling pins (belan, if you please) strapped onto jute ropes hanging from ceiling, sharing space with rows of wheat grass planters. A blend of Indian and orient.
